City of Note
Owensboro was the only Kentucky city to make CNN-Money magazine’s annual list of 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. The list made note of America’s best small cities, with Owensboro hitting the list at No. 93.
Said CNN-Money: “This town along the banks of the Ohio River spawned actors Johnny Depp and Florence Henderson (a.k.a. Carol Brady).
“But its biggest claim to fame is a perfect complement to a state known for bourbon and bluegrass: Barbecue. Owensboro calls itself the ‘Bar-B-Q Capital of the World,’ holding a citywide festival and competition each year. Additionally, there’s Friday After 5, a free weekly series of outdoor concerts on the city’s downtown riverfront, which draws thousands of people each summer.”
Eden Prairie, Minn., was first on the list, which appears in the August issue of Money magazine and is available on money.cnn.com
